George has been named England Under 20s captain for the first time for Sundays game in Rosario after coach Mark Mapletoft decided to rest tour captain Jacob Rowan following two victories over Argentina and Ireland.

Mapletoft will be able to call upon the services of Freddie Burns at full-back who scored two tries from the bench against the Irish, with Harlequins’ Rory Clegg starting at fly half.

France have also recorded victories in their opening two fixtures and Saracens starlet George admits the game could be a real physical encounter.

“We've are massively confident, we have self belief and we know that we’re good enough to win this tournament,” said George.

“There is a belief in this squad and I just hope that we can go out and show that on Sunday.

"The winner of this game goes through to the semi-final so this game is a quarter-final for us. But we are going to jump right in and play the rugby we know we can play.

"France pride themselves on their physicality and their set pieces, their scrum is always strong. But I don't think we'll have any problems in the front-row."

Elsewhere in Pool B Six Nations champions Ireland face Argentina but have no chance of making the semi-finals.

In Group A, world champions New Zealand stand in the way of Wales’ hopes of progressing to the last four.

Both teams have won their opening two fixtures with Welsh coach Phil Davies keeping faith with ten of the side that defeated Fiji 31-3.

Surprisingly that includes leaving prop Dan Watchurst on the bench in favour of Rhodri Jones with flanker Josh Navidi named as skipper.

Winger Kristian Phillips, who played for Wales in the RBS 6 Nations, admits his side face a daunting task against the Baby Blacks.

He said: “They've got great forwards and great backs but it's about us playing to our strengths really.

“We've got momentum coming into the game and we aim to be as aggressive as possible. We'll be looking to make our defence solid and our attack clinical.

“We've prepared really well and if things go to plan we can turn up on the day, play for the full 80 minutes and then come away with the win."

Scotland have already been dumped out of the competition following tow thumping defeats to Australia and South Africa, but are looking to bounce back and get some points on the board when they face Tonga in Parana.
