Mike Phillips is desperate to impress in New Zealand

Phillips fired up for New Zealand tour

Wales scrum-half Mike Phillips plans to leave a lasting impression during the two Tests with New Zealand.

The Ospreys talisman was one of the stars of the Lions tour last summer but has struggled for fitness this term and made just one appearance in the RBS 6 Nations this year.

He returned to play in the 34-31 defeat to South Africa and can’t wait to take on the All Blacks in their own backyard.

“I am determined to give my best because the opportunity is massive and is exciting for any rugby player,” said Phillips.

“The Rugby World Cup in 2011 will be in the back of all our minds as we prepare for the Test matches.

“New Zealand is a great place to come to play rugby and test yourself against the very best. For me it is a chance to put down a marker and to see what I can do.”
