Chris Cusiter looks doubtful to start Scotland's first Test against Argentina

Scotland co-captain Chris Cusiter has admitted his chances of facing Argentina in the first Test this week are dwindling.

The Glasgow Warriors scrum-half, who shares the captaincy with Mike Blair, has been receiving intensive treatment on a knee injury but has not trained fully for more than a week.

The 51-cap star has refused to throw in the towel on his chances of playing against the Pumas in Tucuman so Blair or Rory Lawson are on stand-by to fill in.

“I didn’t train fully last week and I probably won’t train fully this week until Thursday or Friday so,” said Cusiter, who missed the recent 24-5 win over Japan at Murrayfield.

“The injury is improving, slightly, but improving. I have to keep working hard with the medics.”
