Wallabies weakened further ahead of England clash

Coach Martin Johnson has been handed some good news ahead of England's showdown with Australia next weekend with Ben Alexander becoming the latest injury concern for the hosts.
Johnson’s opposite number Robbie Deans had already been facing up to a front row without the crocked trio Stephen Moore, Benn Robinson and Tatafu Polota-Nau.

But loose-head prop Alexander added to that headache against Fiji on Saturday when he damaged knee ligaments in the win over Fiji and will now be unavailable against England.

Al Baxter and Matt Dunning are also unavailable meaning uncapped Queensland Reds prop Ben Daley, who has been out since March with a torn bicep, looks set to make a Test debut.

"Ben [Alexander] has picked up an injury which will keep him out for a few weeks,” said Deans – who watched his side hand out a seven-try hiding to Fiji, winning 49-3. “It looks like a grade two medial ligament.

"Ben Daley is ahead of schedule in terms of his original prognosis and hopefully we won't be exposed."
