Wilkinson in bouyant mood over injury

Jonny Wilkinson has reassured England fans he is winning his battle against injury and will be fit to face Australia in Perth.
The Toulon star suffered bruising below his rib cage in his side’s Amlin Challenge Cup final defeat to Cardiff Blues and hasn’t trained since.

But even though the fly-half is set to miss the Australian Barbarians game, he has vowed to line up against the Wallabies on June 12.

He said: “Injury-wise I’m fine. I took a knock in the back in our last game of the season.

“I have already had a week [without contact work] and I’m being held back by the physios rather than anything else at the moment.

“I want to get out there but they are telling me to take a few more days.”
