And Ospreys coach Sean Holley insists Biggar can be the long-term successor to Stephen Jones as Wales' number 10 after underlining his credentials on the big stage.

“I think Dan is the form outside-half in the Magners League,” said Holley. “We pushed him through last season when we made a huge decision to play James Hook at 12 a lot. We’ve pushed on with that this season and you’ve seen us flourish.

“Tactically, he was superb in this game and he’s been like that all season. For a young man he demands the respect not only of his team-mates but the opposition and I just think he’s been one of the players of the season for us.

“We are looking, I think, at somebody who will be playing for Wales for a very long time.”
