"It's very special. It's a great end to the Magners League and a great end to our season.
"I think it's the first time I've ever beaten Leinster.
“I've drawn against them and it's a great way to win, to come over here, a very difficult place to win - they have a great record over here and there'll be a lot of celebrating."
The Ospreys have often been criticised for failing to match the sum of their parts but for once their 15 starting internationals delivered on the big stage.
And after a hit-and-miss season on an individual level, full-back Byrne was delighted to get his hands on some silverware.
He said: "It was just relieving in the end. I thought they were coming back. But it was nice to get a result and for our supporters who did make it, we gave them something to cheer.
"Personally, myself, it's not been the best of seasons so it's nice to get a good performance under my belt."
