Scotland coach Andy Robinson wants to prioritise RBS 6 Nations over summer tours
Robinson embraces changes to Scotland schedule

Head coach Andy Robinson insists Scotland must prioritise the RBS 6 Nations over summer tours after making wholescale changes to his side's international schedule.
On the request of Robinson, Scotland have re-worked their fixture list for the next decade and will only play one match a year against one of the southern hemisphere powerhouses as well as two or three Tests against weaker international sides.

The Scots will travel to Argentina for two matches in June but their schedule is a far cry from England, Wales and Ireland's summer plans with all three embarking on multiple-Test tours in the southern hemisphere.

But Robinson is adamant his team will be ultimately judged on their performances in the 6 Nations and should save the majority of their resources and focus for it.

“I’m really focusing on the 6 Nations and the autumn internationals,” said Robinson. “When we are there, the tours will be important, but not to the detriment of the other matches.

“The key for me is Scotland getting the right number of matches against the southern hemisphere teams in the autumn and we have got that, playing two of them each year.

“The other important thing is to focus on the 6 Nations. Those games are where we really need to improve and start winning regularly.

“The 6 Nations is a tournament that we play every year. We will deal with the World Cup when we come to it, but it is only once every four years, we will peak towards the 6 Nations every year and we are going to be judged on how we perform in it.”
