Sole is one of a host of foreign-raised players representing the Azzurri. He joined Italian Super 10 side Viadana in 2004, and only a year later was called into the national team, making his debut against Argentina in the summer of 2005. Capable of playing in either the second row or back row, Sole has proved a popular selection with coach Nick Mallett and his predecessor Pierre Berbizier.
