One of the veterans of the Italy squad at 32, Peens played for Frascati, Rome, Calvisano, Piacenza, Overmach Parma and Rovigo before arriving at L'Aquila, where has established himself as one of the leading players in the Italian domestic championship. A latecomer to international rugby, he made his debut aged 28, against Wales in 2002.
