The powerful prop made his debut in the 48-0 victory over Tonga in the autumn of 2005, but has found opportunities limited by the presence of the likes of Martin Castrogiovanni and Salvatore Perugini. He is combative at scrum time and is a handful around the field, but lacks the explosive power of his more experienced peers.
