Godman was preferred to Dan Parks for the autumn clashes against New Zealand and South Africa and offers a greater willingness to play with width than his Glasgow counterpart. He is at his best when taking the ball close to the line and committing defenders with cot-out passes. He is not the greatest tactical kicker but is an attacking threat.
