Noon enjoyed an impressive year for England in 2008, having endured frustration the previous autumn. He missed out on selection for the opening match of the 2008 RBS 6 Nations but Mike Tindall's bruised liver saw Noon start England's victories in Rome and Paris. He produced a man-of-the-match display against Ireland and remained in the England side in the summer and autumn internationals. 2007 had been less favourable as a knee injury during the pool match against South Africa ended his World Cup. The Newcastle Falcon made his England debut in the summer of 2003 and had become a regular member of the side by the 2005 6 Nations when he became the third England player to score a hat-trick against Scotland. He played in the 2006 tournament but did not feature a year later, although he was recalled for the tour of South Africa.
