New Zealand-born Perry Freshwater, who qualifies for England through his father, saw his career take off after he left Leicester to join French club Perpignan. Having established himself in the south of France, former England head coach Andy Robinson sat up and took notice, handing him a debut off the bench against Samoa in 2005. While Phil Vickery and Julian White might be above him in the prop pecking order, he is a useful player to have available in a squad whose resources will be widely utilised during England's 10-Test World Cup build-up.
