Kidney admits World Cup is already in his plans

Ireland head coach Declan Kidney revealed he has the 2011 World Cup set firmly in his sights after selecting his squad for the summer tour of New Zealand and Australia.
Former Munster boss Kidney has included three uncapped players in the touring party, which will kick off their campaign down under against the All Blacks on June 12.

And Kidney believes the tour is the perfect opportunity to give some fringe players a chance to prove their worth, but says he will not be giving out caps easily.

"I've been on tours before where you might only have two games, you're bringing 30 lads and maybe six, seven or eight of them don't get any pitch time," said Kidney.

"Having the four games is going to be an opportunity to give some guys some pitch time, be it as replacements or starters. We'll just wait and see how they train.

"You're not just going to hand out a green jersey to anybody - that would be showing disrespect to all the people who went before us.

"But at the same time, you want to be developing for the future - we've a World Cup 16 or 17 months away and we want to try and build up our squad for that too."
