Scotland Under-20 coach Craig Chalmers has apologised for the incident that saw him arrested at the Melrose Sevens last weekend.
Chalmers was arrested on Saturday night for a breach of the peace and was given a £60 fixed penalty.
Alongside head coach Eamon John and former Lion Peter Wright, Chalmers helped guide Scotland Under-20s to a 8-8 draw with France and a 18-16 defeat of Italy in the 2010 RBS 6 Nations.
The 41-year-old, who was capped 60 times by Scotland, combines that role with his head coach duties at Scottish side Melrose.
In a statement, he said: “ I deeply regret having been involved in an incident late on Saturday evening.
“I apologise for any embarrassment I have cause to those around me and to the game of rugby.
"I fully realise this is something that should not have happened and my actions were unacceptable."
