Andy Robinson believes Japan will provide the perfect test for his side ahead of their summer tour
Scotland will play Japan A in a warm-up match for this summer's tour to Argentina - with coach Andy Robinson set to combine his first and second choice players for the clash.
Robinson’s troops are set to travel to South American for a two-test series on June 12 and will face Japan at Murrayfield 11 days prior.
The fixture will provide a perfect tune up for those involved in the tour to Argentina but also for those ‘A’ players going to Romainia for the IRB Nations Cup.
And Robinson – who has just finished his first RBS 6 Nations as Scotland coach – admitted he couldn’t think of a better way of preparing his players for a busy summer.
He said: “After a season of playing against European teams, it also gives the players an opportunity to broaden their rugby education where they will be coming up against a team from a different continent with a different style of rugby.
“We are looking forward to welcoming Japan A for the match at the start of June and it gives our players a chance to measure where they are in terms of fitness and performance.
“Ahead of both the tour to Argentina and our defence of the Nations Cup, it is incredibly important that we prepare the right way and this fixture will be the first building block towards ensuring that we are suitably equipped for the challenges ahead.”
