Danny Cipriani in action for Wasps
Cipriani admits to Melbourne doubts

Wasps fly-half Danny Cipriani insists his move to Melbourne Rebels is still on - but admits that he had doubts about making the switch.
Last month the 22-year-old confirmed he would be leaving Adams Park at the end of the season having signed a two-year deal with the new Super 15 side.

But, following yesterday’s 42-26 Amlin Challenge Cup victory over Guinness Premiership rivals Gloucester, Cipriani confessed to having doubts but vowed to make the best of the move.

“After days like that you do receive some taps on the shoulder to stay. If we win a few trophies, you never know,” said Cipriani.

“But I am very happy with the decision I have made and I am going to go and play some rugby and learn as much as I can and hopefully return the best player I can.”

And Cipriani has been backed to make a return to Wasps by director of rugby Tony Hanks once his deal expires down under.

“Danny is committed to Melbourne as far as I am aware,” said Hanks. “Danny is a Wasps kid. He has been here a long time and this Melbourne thing is a positive experience with a view to bringing him back.

“In my opinion it is a Wasp going down to play in Super 15 and we would love to see Danny back. As the seasons work out, two seasons in the Super 15 doesn’t mean he will miss two seasons up here.”
