Scotland flanker Alistair Hogg is set to take part Melrose Sevens despite undergoing surgery just four months ago.
That operation to correct a hip problem was expected to rule him out for the rest of the season and potentially Scotland’s summer tour but Hogg has made a sooner than expected return.
He might also be back in action for club side Watsonians in the coming weeks having started training two weeks ago.
Depending on his performances in the world-famous sevens tournament, Edinburgh coach Rob Moffat may choose to risk him as the Gunners’ chase a play-off place in the Magners League.
And Hogg will be desperate to impress Scotland coach Andy Robinson before he selects his squad to Argentina.
Hogg’s place in the Scotland back-row has been taken by Glasgow’s Johnnie Beattie who with club teammates Kelly Brown and John Barclay formed the Killer B’s.
