Ben Foden scores his first international try against France
Foden: Northampton can handle O'Gara

Ben Foden insists Northampton are ready to deal with whatever Ireland international Ronan O'Gara throws at them during their Heineken Cup quarter-final clash with Munster.
The 24-year-old – who scored his first try for England against France during this year’s RBS 6 Nations – repeated the trick to help the Saints see off Leeds 14-7 last time out.

However he is all too aware that O’Gara possesses something Leeds do not having slotted four penalties to inspire Munster to a 12-9 win during their last meeting at Thomond Park.

But full-back Foden is convinced Northampton can cope with O’Gara’s kicking and use it to their advantage as they look to take the game to their Irish opponents.

“Last time we played against Munster, Ronan kicked very well against us and rolled the ball into touch over the heads of our wings,” said Foden.

“I’m sure he will know not to kick to our back three because with wings like Bruce Reihana and Chris Ashton alongside me we are going to look to run the ball back at them.

“We’ve made a few plans to try and force Ronan to kick differently this time and to put more pressure on him. I think it is going to be a strength of ours to limit their kicking game.

“We go into this game with a clean sheet and have put new plans in place to get more involved in the game. When we went to Thomond Park last time we knew we had to come away with one or two points out of the game to reach the quarter-finals.

“There will be a different mind-set this time because it is pure knock-out rugby. It is kill or be killed and we know we have to go there and win.”
