Sale director of rugby Kingsley Jones has hailed the capture of England Under-20 fly-half Rob Miller on a three-year deal from Newcastle.
The 20-year-old goal kicker was capped by his country at Under-16 and Under-18 level before representing England alongside Sharks duo Carl Fearns and James Gaskell at the Under-20 World Cup in Japan.
And after seeing Miller, who started his career at Sale legend Steve Hanley’s first club, Aspatria, land five conversions and seven penalties in his 14 Falcons appearances this term, Jones snapped him up.
"Rob signing for us is excellent news for the club,” said Jones. “He hails from Cumbria and has been a regular in the Falcons matchday 23 this season.
“He was man of the match in Falcons game against Leicester Tigers earlier in the season.
“Rob will be a great understudy to Charlie Hodgson. He has all the skills we need, is a great defender and an excellent goal kicker.”
