Wales fly-half Stephen Jones looks set to finish his career with the Scarlets after opening talks with the region and insisting himself that he wants to stay.
Jones – who featured in every one of Wales’ RBS 6 Nations matches – was linked with Guinness Premiership leaders Leicester last week only for both clubs to dismiss the rumours.
And with the Scarlets upping their efforts to tie the 32-year-old to a new deal at Parc Y Scarlets – Jones has reiterated his desire to stay in south Wales.
“My agent’s in negotiations with the club and I’m just trying to safeguard my future with the region," said Jones.
“You can’t put a time frame on it, but hopefully it will be sorted very shortly. We’ve got a young, talented group of players and it would be great to keep everyone together.
“I’m hoping that’s what we can do because we’re going in the right direction and I’m sure our supporters can see that.”
