Wales centre Tom Shanklin is set to miss out on their summer tour of New Zealand - according to Cardiff Blues coach David Young.
The British and Irish Lion is expected miss the rest of the domestic season after injuring his knee in the Magners League win over Ulster last week.
Shanklin has been beset by injury problems in recent years and missed last year’s Lions tour to South Africa but won his 66th cap in the RBS 6 Nations win over Italy last month.
The 30-year-old will now undergo surgery and Young said: “Tom won’t play a part for the rest of the season and I would say he is doubtful for the summer tour.
“The injury is nothing huge to worry about. It is not the knee he has had problems with in the past, but he is going to need something done.”
