Foden spark invigorated England - Tindall

World Cup winning centre Mike Tindall believes the selection of Northampton full-back Ben Foden helped the England backline play with more freedom in their impressive RBS 6 Nations performance against France.
Despite going down to a 12-10 defeat, the English backs showed more flair and ambition than their much vaunted opponents and it was Foden who grabbed the only try of the game after a superbly-worked move.

And Tindall revealed the England management led by backs coach Brian Smith had told Tindall and co to play without fear in the Stade de France.

“What we spoke about this week was that sometimes winning is not everything," said Tindall who was making the first start of the 2010  You need to win with a performance and sometimes we focus too much on just getting a win.

“We had more freedom to go out there and express ourselves. The back three were outstanding.

“Ben Foden definitely has a big international future ahead of him. He helps to promote the game we want to play.

“If a kick goes in I know I'll work back because there's a good chance he'll run it. It helps you to get your game going.”
