Beattie: We're making progress under Robinson

Johnnie Beattie insists Scotland have moved forward under coach Andy Robinson as their dramatic RBS 6 Nations win over Ireland begins to sink in.
The 24-year-old No.8 scored a memorable try in the 23-20 victory over Declan Kidney’s troops at Croke Park leaving Paul O’Connell and two other markers for dead.

Scotland endured a torrid start to their Six Nations campaign picking up three successive defeats to France, Wales and even Italy.

But after drawing with England and downing Ireland to end on a high Beattie is adamant Scotland have made progress under Robinson this year.

“Personally I always had faith in our abilities and it was good to repay the fans for keeping faith with us,” said Beattie.

“And it was good to reward Andy for the faith he has shown in us. Everyone could see the things he has brought to the squad and our level of performance has improved throughout the series.

“We have moved forward and it was very special to earn the win over Ireland and achieve it in such a positive manner.

“I had become fed up of saying things like ‘we’re not far away’ but we had to go out and prove that we were not far away and we did just that.”
