Shane Williams has backed young winger Tom Prydie to be Wales' next big thing ahead of his RBS 6 Nations debut against Italy at the Millennium Stadium.
Prydie will become the youngest Six Nations international and Wales’ youngest ever Test player when he makes his bow, aged 18 years and 25 days.
Record try-scorer Williams – who will line up on the opposite wing to the debutant – insists he has been astonished by how quickly the Ospreys youngster has settled into the international setup.
“I am delighted he is having his chance,” said Williams. “He’s a young lad who has got all the talent to be a great player, a superstar even.
“He has trained very well with the squad and I have no doubt he will go out and have a great game.
“He is an athlete and he works hard, not only in training, but off the field learning moves and calls. He’s very professional.
“You have only got to watch him - he is so full of confidence, it’s scary. I wish I was half as confident as him at that age.”
