Danny Care has launched a passionate defence of his half-back partnership with Jonny Wilkinson ahead of the RBS 6 Nations clash with Scotland.
The Harlequins scrum-half and Wilkinson have failed to fire in this year’s tournament and have been under pressure for their places in Martin Johnson’s side.
But Care believes they will come good in the Calcutta Cup clash at Murrayfield as England bid to bounce back from the depressing defeat to Ireland.
“Jonny and I are improving each week – he is obviously the best ten I have ever worked with – it is great to have him outside you,” said Care.
“Ireland were very good at getting over the ball and slowing it down – that’s frustrating when you are playing against players like that because you want the ball on a plate and you have to dig for it.
“But we’ve worked a lot on our contact skills and ruck drills and hopefully we can take that into the game and get some quick ball.
“And when we click I think we are going to produce something really special and hopefully that will be this weekend.”
