Scotland now have the unenviable task of playing Wales on home turf on Saturday followed by the potential banana skin that is a trip to Italy on February 27.
And while quick to emphasis the positives of the French performance Robinson admits his side need to discover a killer instinct before they head to Wales.
"We have a six-day turnaround, the focus is on playing Wales, but we have a lot of belief in what we're doing," said Robinson.
"What undermined us was the two tries they scored, and the way they scored them.
"I was pleased with the ambition and intent in the first 20 minutes, but we have to show that we can control the scoreboard by taking opportunities and putting pressure on.
"But the most significant difference between the sides I think was that in the first half the two chances they had they took beautifully and when we had various opportunities we didn't hold onto the ball, particularly in the first half.
"We really need to improve our ability to look after the ball."
