Wales scrum half Mike Phillips has reportedly opened contract talks with current employers Ospreys with a host of clubs either side of the channel vying for his signature.
The 27-year-old’s contract does not expire until the end of next season but the Welsh region are desperate to tie the 38-cap star to a new deal.
Leicester Tigers, Saracens, Toulouse, Stade Francais, Racing-Metro 92 and Toulon are all reportedly in the market to lure Phillips away from Wales.
The Ospreys know all about fighting battles to hold onto their star names – having to fight off Leinster and Munster recently to keep hold of Tommy Bowe’s services.
Unfortunately for the Welsh region Phillips is not averse to a change of scenery having jumped ship from his home region Scarlets to join the Blues before making another controversial switch to join Ospreys three years ago.
And after his Wales and British & Irish Lions heroics the Ospreys face a tough battle to keep hold of the 27-year-old.
