Wasps wing Paul Sackey has suffered his second major blow of the month after being ruled out for three weeks with a fractured cheekbone.
The 30-year-old was a surprise omission from Martin Johnson’s England squad for the RBS 6 Nations last week – having to make do with a slot in the Saxons set-up.
And after going down during Tony Hanks’ side’s 50-16 Amlin Challenge Cup demolition of Roma on Thursday, Sackey has been ruled out of Wasps’ next three games with Racing Metro, Scarlets and Newcastle.
Sackey – who underwent surgery to fix his cheekbone – is no stranger to time on the treatment table having suffered a broken leg while playing for England during last year’s Six Nations against Ireland.
The winger considered retirement following the injury and his absence from the EPS squad ensured England would head into the Six Nations without a single Wasps back.
