Mermoz to miss RBS 6 Nations

Perpignan centre Maxime Mermoz's place in France's RBS 6 Nations squad has been plunged into doubt after he was struck down with a shoulder injury.

The 23-year-old suffered the knock during Perpignan’s 29-9 loss to Brive at the turn of the year and was sent for tests to discover the full extent of the injury.

Scans showed there no bones were broken just heavy bruising however Mermoz is unlikely to recover in time for France’s Six Nations opener with Scotland on February 7.

Mermoz – who has won five caps for France – is no stranger to injury having pulled out of last year’s autumn international against New Zealand with a thigh strain.
