Scotland Women's coach Gary Parker has named Edinburgh University rookie Celia Hawthorn in his 2010 RBS Six Nations squad.
The 20-year-old back represented Scotland at Under-18 and development level before stepping up to join the 26-strong squad.
Hawthorn is joined in the squad by returning Richmond No.8 Susie Brown for the tournament which pits Scotland against France in their opening fixture on February 6.
"This coming year is massive for women's rugby," said Parker. "We've got the Six Nations and then the World Cup in England later in the year.
"Celia is mainly played as a wing or a centre but I gave her a run at full-back in our training match against Ireland in Belfast and she took her chance.
"There's great enthusiasm and commitment from the Scotland Women's squad and an enormous willingness to learn and improve."
Parker used a recent training match against Ireland to experiment with his squad permutations.
The game was played in freezing conditions at the University of Ulster Jordanstown's 3-G facilities with the Irish running in six tries in a game which was divided into two 30-minute periods, followed by a 20-minute session.
