Staff inspires England youngsters to victory.
Captain Henry Staff and winger Alex Lewington bagged two tries each to propel England Regional Academy U19's to a 36-10 victory over Australian Schools.
Winger Earl Collins set the ball rolling before Lewington and Sam Edgerley followed him over the whitewash ahead of the interval to put the hosts 31-5 up.
Lewington grabbed his second and the fourth try of the game before Staff rounded the match off with a late double.
And after seeing his side defeat the tourists for the third time on the trot, coach Mark Mapletoft, who also heads up England's U20 side, hailed his side’s ambition
"It was a very clinical performance in certain aspects. The attitude the players turned up with was superb, they wanted to keep the ball alive and play rugby,” said Mapletoft.
“The conditions were not great and it was very greasy but they showed a lot of endeavour.
"Sam did very well. Overall his positioning was good and his speed off the mark was special along with his game awareness.
“There was one or two areas where we needed to sharpen up on and, in particular, our pick and go was not the best, but, for a side that had only come together in the last 24 hours and had only about an hour’s training, it was a good performance.”
