Cardiff head coach Dai Young insists centre Jamie Roberts has plenty of room for improvement ahead of Wales' RBS 6 Nations opener against England.
The 23-year-old made his 6 Nations debut in 2008 but started only once against Scotland as Wales won the Grand Slam for the second time in four years.
Roberts was more prominent a year later however as Wales failed to repeat the trick but took heart from his performances and went to make his Lions debut where he was named player of the series.
But Young – who has seen Roberts put pen to paper on a new deal until the end of 2013 – believes the Blues centre can still get better.
“As good as Jamie is at the minute, he still has a lot of improvement to do,” said Young. “We are really pleased how much he has come on and it is far quicker than anybody thought he would.
“He is working hard to make sure he does improve. He has aspects of his game that other players don’t have, but he knows he needs to look at other aspects.”
