Wasps boss Tony Hanks believes he can get the best of both worlds by including fly-halves Danny Cipriani and Dave Walder in the same team.
Although Cipriani filled the No.10 shirt in last week’s defeat of Harlequins, Hanks has decided to shift the England star to full-back to accommodate the return of former Falcon Dave Walder to stand-off duties.
And despite speculation linking Cipriani with a move away from Adams Park at the end of the season, Hanks believes the match against Newcastle gives him the perfect opportunity to remind England boss Martin Johnson of his range of talents.
He said: “In terms of selection, this weekend’s game gives us opportunity to play both Dave Walder and Danny Cipriani at the same time for the second time this season.
“Moving Danny to full-back gives him an opportunity to show his versatility in a position that he is familiar with and allows Mark Van Gisbergen to come onto the bench after a hugely impressive 782 minutes of rugby already this season.”
