El Abd surprised at Castres' start

Toulon flanker Joe El Abd insists Top 14 leaders Castres have been the surprise package of the domestic campaign so far.

While the likes of Toulon having invested heavily in international superstars such as Jonny Wilkinson - Castres have gone about their business quietly.

"Castres have certainly been one of the surprise packages this year," he said. "With a strong kicking game and solid defence they deserve to be at the top going into Christmas.

"Now they are at the top, however, no-one will be taking them lightly, but I still think they will be strong come the end of the season.

"Another surprise package this season has been Racing Métro 92 from Paris .

"Moving into a higher league is never easy, so being up there at this stage is a great achievement.

"They play in a similar manner to Castres with two great kickers and two very quick wingers, which make them a very difficult team to play against."
