White suffers New Year's Day heartache

Clermont flanker Jason White has suffered a cruel injury blow on New Year's Day after breaking his leg in training.

The former Sale veteran had hoped to be included in Scotland’s RBS 6 Nations campaign that starts against France on February 7.

The former Scotland captain fractured his tibia (shinbone) while preparing for Clermont's clash with Toulon on Sunday.

The veteran of 77 Tests will undergo surgery this weekend and is expected to be sidelined for three months.
