Foden's the best in the business says Mallinder

England full-back Ben Foden is good enough to unlock any defence - that's according to Northampton director of rugby Jim Mallinder.

The 24-year-old crossed on 75 minutes to help Saints climb to second place in the Guinness Premier League with a 26-6 win over lowly Worcester.

Foden had previously set up fellow England hopeful Chris Ashton for a try on the hour and Mallinder was delighted with the pair’s combination.

“Ben has got the ability to unlock defences, he only needs half a chance, and with Chris Ashton they are quite a potent combination,” said Mallinder.

Foden was capped earlier this year when he came on as a replacement in the RBS 6 Nations match against Italy on February 7; he has since made seven appearances, including two starts for Martin Johnson’s men.
