Back-rower Joe Bearman is planning to gatecrash the Wales RBS 6 Nations squad after a stunning first half to the season with Dragons.
The 30-year-old qualified for the Wales team through residency earlier this year and had been tipped for a first cap in the autumn internationals.
London-born Bearman moved to south Wales three years ago from Cornish Pirates and was contacted by WRU officials prior to the November tests about his availability.
And Bearman – who can play No.8 or at blind-side flanker – is confident he can force his way into Warren Gatland’s thoughts.
“I’d love to play for Wales, I don’t hide that fact,” said Bearman.
“I can just play hard and well, look after the Dragons and get some results under our belts. If it comes, it comes, if it doesn’t, it doesn’t.
“I thought it was the taxman when I got a call asking about my residency – a first Wales cap would be the best day of my life.”
