Scotland scrum-half Chris Cusiter is backing Glasgow team-mate Richie Gray to join him when Andy Robinson announces his squad for next month's RBS 6 Nations.
Lock Gray underlined his growing potential as Glasgow completed an inter-city double over rivals Edinburgh for the first time in 12 years.
And Cusiter – who has made 47 appearances for Scotland – believes Gray's performances for the Warriors so far this season are more than worthy of a 6 Nations call up.
“Richie has been one of our best players over recent weeks. His work around the park has been outstanding and his sheer size is an obvious asset,” said Cusiter.
“He is a quiet boy but I think there is a lot to come from him and I hope he gets his chance. He has done so well he is bound to be there or thereabouts when Andy Robinson gets down to picking his squad.
“There is no doubt in my mind he is ready for the step up and the great thing is that there a lot of younger guys contributing so much at the moment.”
