The former Leinster Academy player joined the club last year and was rewarded for his form with a call-up to the Churchill Cup winning Ireland A squad this summer.

And having seen team-mate Cronin make his full international debut last month, Carr believes he has what it takes to make it on the big stage.

“Hopefully I’ll get the opportunity sooner rather than later, but in the meantime I have to keep playing well and focus on my performances for Connacht” said Carr.

“I’ve spoken to Declan Kidney a couple of times about it, so it’s nice to know that I’m on the radar and that they’re thinking about me.

“He’s really good about talking to you and giving you feedback, letting you know where you stand and what you have to improve on.

“There are some quality players in the squad and it would be amazing to play for my country.”
