Glasgow welcome back Cusiter
13 October 2009, 2:38 pm
By James Coyne
Chris Cusiter and Peter Murchie have returned to the Glasgow squad for Friday night's Heineken Cup trip to Newport-Gwent Dragons.
Both missed Saturday’s opening Pool Two defeat to Biarritz, Scotland scrum-half Cusiter because of illness, with Murchie still recovering from a groin injury.

Friday’s game has come too soon for fellow centres Graeme Morrison (shin) and Max Evans, who is close to returning after sidelined since May with a knee injury which required surgery.

Saturday’s game saw Glasgow lose utility back Rob Dewey (ankle) and DTH van der Merwe (wrist) to broken bones.

Naming a 25-man squad for Friday night’s trip to face Glasgow’s bogey team, head coach Sean Lineen said: “We’re being tested in terms of the squad but I’ve been impressed by the attitude of the players.”

Lineen will be looking for an improved lineout against the Dragons, adding: “We’ll learn from the Biarritz game. Only one facet of our game wasn’t as good as where it has been.

“But this is the Heineken Cup and we’re still very excited about playing a big part in the competition.”

Despite a poor record against the Dragons, including a Magners League defeat at Rodney Parade this season, Lineen will draw inspiration from the Warriors’ recent win at Cardiff Blues.

He said: “We won the last time we were in Wales, and we’ve played some very good rugby so far this year, so we can take heart from that. But this is Europe where it is all about winning.”
