And his problems mounted during the 22-18 defeat with three players now a doubt for the Pool Two fixture on Friday against the Dragons, who took a point in defeat against Gloucester.

Lineen said: “After the opening results, this will be interesting. I'm looking forward to taking the boys down there.

“However, we've picked up more injuries in the backs with centre Rob Dewey injuring an ankle, winger DTH Van Der Merwe going off at half-time due to a knee problem and full-back Bernie Stortoni suffering a leg knock.”

Lineen is still coming to terms with losing a nine-point lead against the French side, who notched the only try in the 50th minute when Magnus Lund just beat Colin Gregor to touch down after Glasgow lock Tim Barker palmed the ball back from a deep lineout.

“We were not outplayed,” Lineen said. “They didn't win it; we lost it. And we lost it thanks to the lineout, and the baffling thing is that has been the one consistently strong area of our game all season.

“It has all come down to that one lineout in our 22 that we didn't control. It's going to haunt us.”

Dan Parks kicked all of Glasgow’s points but Lineen was encouraged by his side’s overall display.

“The boys never stopped and played great rugby at times,” he said. "They just couldn't break that very, very strong defence.”
