Munster start without Lions

Munster will begin their defence of the Magners League against Glasgow without their contingent of British and Irish Lions.

Paul O’Connell, David Wallace, Ronan O’Gara, Keith Earls, Donncha O’Callaghan and John Hayes all toured South Africa this summer but will not be part of Munster’s opening-day squad.

The Irish team will also be without Darragh Hurley, Jerry Flannery, Nick Williams, Tomas O’Leary, Ian Dowling and Ciaran O'Boyle - all of whom are still recovering from injury.

However, there is some good news with Alan Quinlan’s suspension set to end on September 9.
