Jones determined to retain captaincy
15 August 2009, 3:26 pm
By Rob Barnett
Ryan Jones has no plans to relinquish the Wales captaincy despite his disappointing form last season.
The back row forward led his country to the 2008 Grand Slam but could not repeat the trick in 2009 as Ireland prevailed in the final match of the RBS 6 Nations.

Worse was to follow for Jones when he was not only overlooked for the British and Irish Lions captaincy but was left out of the initial squad.

Jones was belatedly called up as an injury replacement but sent home after three days on tour when it was discovered he had suffered concussion on Wales duty the previous week.

In spite of his misfortunes so far this year, Jones confirmed: "It's something I certainly wouldn't give up."
