Amid a concerted bolstering of his squad, Lineen has signed players such as Peter Murchie from London Welsh and Hamish Mitchell from New Zealand NPC side Taranaki and consequently,  Evans is looking for improvement.

"I've no doubt we'll bury some of our demons against some of the weaker teams this year because we're a lot stronger as a squad," the Scotland winger told BBC Scotland.

"We're not going to make the same mistakes again.

"I want to take off from where I left off last season and just keep giving everything on the pitch and  performing the best I can.

"If you're not performing for your club then you're not going to get a look in at national level.

"There's a lot of competition for places, especially in the backs. It's really good to have that depth in the squad."
