Scotland captain Mike Blair is expected to be fit for the British and Irish Lions' final tour match before the first Test.
The Edinburgh scrum-half pulled out of the match against Western Province on the day of the game, with winger Shane Williams replacing him on the bench.
But the ankle problem which kept him out of the match is not serious and Blair is set to be in contention for a starting place against the Coastal XV on Tuesday.
The Scotland star has not started a game since the tour opener against a Royal XV in Rustenburg and is probably third in the scrum-half pecking order.
Wales' Mike Phillip is the hot favourite to take the No.9 shirt with Harry Ellis of England set to be his cover on the replacement's bench.
Meanwhile, Scotland lock Nathan Hines produced a typically abrasive display against Western Province and is in line for a place in the first Test squad, while prop Euan Murray impressed with his scrummaging power when he entered the fray in the second half.
