Scotland hooker Ross Ford insists he will not be satisfied with his summer's work until he is named in the Lions' Test line-up against South Africa.
Ford was in dreamland when he called up to the tour to South Africa after first-choice hooker Jerry Flannery of Ireland was injured in training.
He is competing with England's Lee Mears a mobile No.2 with good hands and the more robust Matthew Rees of Wales for a place in the Test XV.
Those two get their chance to play against the Cheetahs in the Lions latest match with Edinburgh star Ford likely to come in to start against Western Province on Saturday.
He said: "When you first starting playing rugby, you always dream about one day playing for the Lions and for that to happen was an ambition fulfilled.
"Now I want to take that one step further and make into the Test team. But there are a few games before that, so I just need to get my performance right when I play next time."
The first Test against South Africa takes place in Durban a week on Saturday.
