Scotland star Nathan Hines believes his experience against the Springboks last year can help the Lions win the Test series in South Africa.
Hines was part of a Scotland team which pushed the world champions all the way in their November clash at Murrayfield, scoring a first-half try to give team the edge at the break.
Only a lack of discipline in the last quarter of the game denied Frank Hadden's side a famous victory as the Boks ran out 14-10 winners.
Australia-born Hines, who qualifies for Scotland and therefore the Lions via his grandfather, is relishing his first experience of the touring side.
He said: "In the second half we were a bit stunned to be in front. We didn't dominate the game for 10 minutes, we made a couple of errors and that's what cost us. But there's a mental toughness with the Lions.”
