Northampton boss Jim Mallinder is resigned to losing Scotland winger Sean Lamont in the summer.
Lamont, who began the 2009 RBS 6 Nations in the Scotland starting line-up against Wales at Murrayfield, is out of contract at Franklin's Gardens.
The 28-year-old from Perth initially looked set to join the procession of British players to France when he held talks with Brive - but that move broke down.
Now the powerful back is being chased by the Scarlets, and if the move is finalised he would join fellow Scotland winger Nikki Walker who is with the Ospreys in Wales.
Former Glasgow star Lamont joined Saints in 2005 and has scored 23 tries in 68 appearances for the club.
He was dropped by former Scotland coach Frank Hadden midway after the defeat to Wales in this year's RBS 6 Nations but will hope to add to his 37-cap tally in November's Autumn internationals.
"He's been fantastic for us recently, playing really well," said Mallinder.
"But it's one of those things. When players come out of contract they get offers from elsewhere."
